This Persian Mosaic Floor Rug brings a carpet-style medallion into permanent stone, cut from marble tesserae in warm gold, rust and walnut tones. Hand set piece by piece, the scrollwork, corner paisleys and scalloped border sit flush and level, giving a hallway, kitchen or conservatory floor a rug that never shifts, frays or needs replacing.

Mosaic Details

This Persian mosaic floor rug lays a warm, symmetrical medallion into stone, built from hand cut tesserae in amber, chestnut and cream with a fine black outline tracing every curve. The central star unfolds into a many-pointed flower, held inside a scalloped frame of sweeping tendrils and paired leaves, with small floral sprays and paisley corner motifs finishing the composition.

Persian Mosaic Floor Rug Pattern & Design Composition

Layout: a single medallion sits dead centre, radiating outward through a stepped diamond lattice before meeting the scalloped border that frames the whole rug. Four corner paisleys anchor the outer field, each mirrored for balance.

Palette: the warm tones read as honey gold, rust and deep walnut brown against a pale stone ground, with the black outline giving every shape a crisp edge.

Handcrafted Mosaic Excellence

Tesserae: small, closely set pieces follow every curve of the medallion and scrollwork by hand, with no gaps breaking the line of the pattern. The outer guard border is laid in tiny alternating squares, a detail only hand cutting can hold this tightly.

Finish: the surface sits smooth and level, polished so the stone colours sit flush against one another rather than catching shadow at the joins.

Inspired by Persian Carpet Design

The rug borrows its structure from classic Persian carpet weaving: a central medallion, a repeating guard border and corner ornaments that echo the main motif at smaller scale. In mosaic form the same vocabulary is translated into stone, trading wool pile for cut tesserae while keeping the proportion and symmetry a woven rug would carry.

Best Applications for Persian Mosaic Floor Rug

Hallways and entryways: a fixed medallion rug that never slips or bunches underfoot, set flush into the floor at the entrance.

Kitchens and conservatories: a warm focal point inlaid near an island or beneath a dining table, standing in for a woven rug in rooms where fabric would wear quickly.

Wet rooms: as a floor inlay where a soft rug would not survive daily use.
