The Vine Scroll Mosaic Floor Rug pieces together a trailing botanical pattern in neutral stone tesserae, framed by a plain border that keeps the design contained. Hand cut and laid tile by tile, it suits a hallway, kitchen or wet room floor where a calm, repeating pattern is wanted underfoot in place of a woven textile rug.

Mosaic Details

This vine scroll mosaic rug lays out a continuous run of curling stems and small leaf clusters across a pale stone field, bordered on all sides by a narrow dark band that squares off the design. Hand cut from neutral-toned stone, it is built to sit flush in a hallway, kitchen or wet room floor the way a woven rug would, without the trip hazard of an actual textile underfoot.

Vine Scroll Mosaic Rug Pattern & Design Composition

Layout: the pattern repeats a scrolling vine motif in soft rows, each stem branching into small pointed leaves that alternate direction as they travel the length of the piece. Border: a plain darker band frames the field on all four sides, giving the rug a defined edge rather than a motif that simply fades out. Rhythm: because the vine repeats at a steady interval, the finished rug reads as one calm, even pattern rather than a scattered print.

Handcrafted Mosaic Excellence

Tesserae: each leaf and stem is pieced from small hand cut stone tiles, with the darker grey-brown tone set against an off-white ground so the vine stands out without any sharp contrast. Finish: the surface is smooth and level, laid tile by tile so grout lines sit tight and even across the whole field. Material: natural stone tesserae carry the slight variation in tone and texture that only hand cutting produces, which keeps the mosaic from looking printed.

Inspired by Botanical Scrollwork

The design draws on classic botanical scrollwork, the kind of trailing vine pattern found in older European floor work, reworked here in a restrained neutral palette suited to British interiors. It sits comfortably in a period hallway alongside cast iron and reclaimed stone, or in a newer build where a calmer floor pattern is wanted.

Best Applications for Vine Scroll Mosaic Rug

This piece works well as a mosaic rug inlay at a hallway threshold, a kitchen floor panel, or a conservatory entrance where a flat, hard-wearing surface is wanted instead of loose textile. It also suits a wet room floor where a mosaic rug pattern is preferred over an unbroken tile run. For a size or colour change to fit a specific room, request a custom mosaic design.
